Prophets (revised)

Footnote 14 and main text (page 7) are revised as follows.

The mean circumference of Venus (as given by NASA) is 23,627.4 miles, or 124,729,440 feet.  The Khafre pyramid perimeter at the base is about 2816 feet.  This is an estimate, since we have no careful measurement of this pyramid such as Cole’s of the Great Pyramid.  But using the NASA figures, the circumference of Venus divided by the (estimated) pyramid base is 44,293.125.  This is a difference of only 802.045, which is only a 1.8% deviation from the scale in the Great Pyramid.  However, NASA also states that the surface of Venus cannot be seen from Earth because of the very dense atmosphere of carbon dioxide with some nitrogen, carbon monoxide, argon, sulfur dioxide, and water vapor which completely envelops the planet.  This atmosphere strongly reflects and scatters sunlight (creating the appearance from Earth).  NASA states that the “Scale height” of the atmosphere is 15.9 kilometers, which would be 9.88 miles.  It is not clear how much of this atmosphere constitutes what we (and the pyramid creators) see from Earth.  But using the NASA number, this would expand the diameter of the planet seen from Earth by 19.76 miles (9.88 on each side).  The diameter of the surface of the planet is 7,523.69, and the additional 19.76 miles gives 7,543.45 miles.  This produces a circumference of 23,686.433 miles (diameter x Pi, using 3.14), or 125,064,366.24 feet.  Divide the perimeter of Khafre of 2816 yields a ratio of 1:44,412.06, which is 920.98 greater than the ratio for the great pyramid, or 2.1% greater.  Given all the unknowns in these calculations, such as the true perimeter of Khafre, this is too close to be coincidence. 14.  Some sources indicate an atmosphere extending to about 40 miles from the surface.  This would give a deviation from the scale of Earth/Great Pyramid of 2.9%.  Still too close to be a coincidence, in my opinion.

All numbers are from the NASA website.

Did the ancient Egyptians know the irrational number Pi?  It is widely believed they did, because that number shows up in their architecture.  However, they may have used the fraction 22/7 as an approximation.
